If you’re here reading this, I’m guessing there’s a part of you that is a seeker.

A seeker of ~~ where do I even start?

A seeker of love, from yourself or someone else.

A seeker of joy, acceptance, understanding, health, wealth, security, good friends, meaningful work, strength [inside and out].

I’ve always been a seeker although I never considered myself as such earlier in life.

The way I felt about myself and the words I would have used [if anyone would have asked me] would be more like lost, lacking, unsettled, wanting to belong, looking for meaning.

The way I went about trying to belong and to fit in led me to trying just about anything to make it happen. As a young adult that included drugs and alcohol. As a “responsible” adult that included certifications, promotions, courses, memberships, sitting on committees, being a member of clubs.

Did I mention certifications?

I’ve spent the better part of my life chasing happiness and success.

Don’t get me wrong. I wholeheartedly believe in learning and being involved, especially when it’s something that truly interests you and makes you feel alive! I believe in serving and belonging to causes you find meaningful like committees and clubs.

I’m a registered nurse that decided to be a massage therapist just after obtaining a yoga teaching certification. I’m the first to encourage you to follow your dreams and do what it takes to make the life you want for yourself.

Afterall, most of us are looking for something and unless you were born with a “silver spoon” in your mouth, the quest to find what makes you happy is a worthwhile quest in my opinion.

And actually, even if you were born with a silver spoon that doesn’t mean your life’s a happy one, sometimes quite the opposite.

The point of me sharing all this is to remind you that when you are seeking and chasing what you think will make you happy, joyful and strong ~ make sure it’s really what YOU want for yourself and not based on the “system” you were born into.

I’m talking about the system or culture of those that raised you.

The system that’s created your beliefs, your values and your behaviors.

If you need permission, here it is …

Just because you were told what you should do, how you should do it and why you should do it, doesn’t make it true for YOU.

If you find yourself dissatisfied with how your life is going, can you pinpoint where that feeling is coming from? Knowing exactly why your life isn’t happy isn’t a prerequisite for learning how to change it.

Having the awareness that your life isn’t a fulfilled life and making the decision to do something about it is a HUGE awakening!

The majority of people have an inkling that they aren’t happy but they decide to ignore the signs because they think they have no choice but to stay in their current state. Their state of unfulfillment, unhappiness and general dissatisfaction with their life.

It doesn’t have to be this way. I promise.

In the Confidence & Self-Esteem Builders Facebook community, I mentioned how easy it is to allow our thoughts to dictate our beliefs, our actions and what we consider ourselves capable of.

In the coming weeks, I plan to share what I’ve been doing to prove to myself how capable I am. The things I’m letting go of. The ways in which I’m showing up for myself.

Afterall, we’re in this together!
